Each violin is handmade and finished making for a very precise good-looking instrument. The high gloss finish not only looks good- but is easy to clean- maintaining its professional look. The back belly and body are made from laminated linden- this tone wood is strong and resilient for students use whilst still offering a comfortable and lightweight violin. The neck is maple with an ebonized hardwood finger board- the scroll and sound holes are traditionally designed. The tail piece is made from aluminium alloy and has four fine tuners. The steel core strings are supplied already wound in and have coloured silk wraps to help students identify each one. The wrappings also provide some extra grip- binding them to the tuning pegs more effectively. New strings go out of tune quite quickly but once tuned a few times produce a pitch perfect sound and have exceptionally long life. It is easy to damage and snap a string by over tightening- so an extra set has been included with each violin to give you an immediate replacement should this occur. Apart from tuning with the pegs- fine tuners are included to make precise tuning easy. The bridge is made from maple and is not installed on the violin to avoid damage during transit. It is a simple process to fit the bridge and tune the violin. Full instructions are included with each instrument and you will find the bridge under the tailpiece. The bow is made from hardwood and horsehair making it strong and stable. Nickel silver lapping and a rubber thumb piece help make for a comfortable grip. The bow is easy to tension with a hexagonal nut. Rosin needs to be applied before use- this is supplied with each Sotendo violin set. This violin set is supplied with a tough carry case- which has a foam body and a protective fabric covering and plush lining on the inside. The case is lightweight and features backpack straps a strong plastic handle and front accessories pocket. Inside there is a compartment for keeping the rosin and spare stings. The bow is held in place via plastic catches. A very robust case to keep your violin safe whilst transporting and for storage.
